"Is This One of Those Pyramid Deals?"

"Is This One of Those Pyramid Deals?"
by Hilton Johnson

(This "Help Me, Hilton" question was sent in by Devon Wilkins.)

Here's how to respond to the "pyramid question" in a way that will often get you a presentation:

Prospect: "Is this one of those pyramid deals?"

You: "No. Are you looking for a pyramid deal?"

Prospect: "No"

You: "Good. When people ask me that question, what they're usually asking is if my business is one of those where they have to do most of the work and someone else makes most of the money, or if it's one of those illegal pyramid schemes. Is that what you're asking?"

Prospect: "Yes"

You: "My program is neither illegal, shady or designed for someone else to make all of the money while you do all of the work. Like any other company where you might have people under your supervision, you can make money--lots of money--from the efforts of other people.

My business is also designed so that if someone works under my supervision and they work harder and smarter than me, they get to make more money than me. Isn't that the way it should be?"

Prospect: "Yes, of course."

You: "Let me ask you something. It's possible that my business is not for you...you get to decide that for yourself. But, if I can clearly demonstrate to you that it is a business where you can earn all the money you want to make,
based on your efforts, without doing anything shady, illegal or uncomfortable, would you give it any consideration?"

Prospect: "Yes, I might."

You: "Fine. Let's set up a time to look at the program and you can decide if it’s for you or not...okay?"

"More Lies ... I Don't Have the Time"

"More Lies ... I Don't Have the Time"
by Hilton Johnson

When someone tells you he/she doesn't have the time to look at or be a part of your Network Marketing business, you should consider that to be good news to your ears.

The very fact that someone doesn't have any extra time means they're probably working too many hours to begin with.

If they had their own business and achieved total freedom, they would have all the time they needed to do whatever they wanted to do... isn't that right?

(If someone is not working too many hours and they're spending all of their time with family and friends, chances
are they're not making much money.)

Regardless of their reason, here’s how to respond to:

"I don't have the time":

"I can appreciate that you don't have any extra time. When people tell me they don't have the time to do the things they want to do, it usually means they're working too many hours.

Let me ask you this: If I can show you a way to have your own business, working out of your home, and it would give you enough time and money to do the things that you'd like to do, would you have any interest in knowing how?"

If he/she says "yes", you now have a qualified prospect in front of you!

"More Lies ... I'm Not Interested"

"More Lies ... I'm Not Interested"
by Hilton Johnson

When you approach a prospect about your products or your Network Marketing opportunity and she responds to you by saying she's not interested, she's lying.

Not in a bad way, though.

When people give objections to something they know nothing about, it's simply a knee-jerk reaction to what they perceive as an impending sales pitch. And people hate sales pitches.

More often than not, what the prospect is really saying is...
"I don't believe you."

Now that you know the truth, here's a way you can respond to the "I'm not interested" ("I don't believe you") objection that will often turn it around for you and cause interest:

"No problem. I wouldn't want to bother you with something you aren't interested in. May I say, though, that often times when people tell me they're not interested in what I have to offer, they're just being polite.

They don't want to hurt my feelings, so they make up all kinds of reasons why they wouldn't be interested.

Experience has taught me, however, that what they're really saying is they don't believe me. What I'm saying to them sounds too good to be true.

They don't really believe that my products (or business) can help them _______ (mention a few benefits of what your products or business opportunity will do) _____.

I was just wondering if that might be your reaction too ... that what I'm saying sounds too good to be true?"

Often times the prospect will admit the truth and say "yes" to that question. When she does, follow with this language:

"I can certainly appreciate that. I might feel the same way if I were in your shoes. Let me ask you this though: If it WERE true and I could support what I'm saying, would you give any consideration to taking a closer look at my program?"

Amazingly, many prospects will say "yes" and when they do, you have created qualified presentations that you otherwise would not have had.

Pretty cool, huh?

I have personally used this language for overcoming objections for over forty years and it's served me well. Try it for yourself and see what happens.

The difference between Network Marketers who are successful and those who are not is that the successful ones know how to find people and when they do, they know exactly what to say to make themselves irresistible.

You can do that, too!

In the next issue of The MLMCoach(tm) Newsletter, I'm going to teach and coach you on how to overcome the prospect's lie:

"I don't have the time."
